False Relation is about the kind of person who enters your life looking like something solid, strong, steady, dependable, but turns out to be anything but. It’s a song about realizing too late that someone you trusted was never really on your side, and owning the frustration that comes with seeing it clearly after the damage is done.

The title and the whole chorus comes from a term in music theory: a false relation, when two notes in a chord, one natural (in this case C) and C sharp are played together, creating dissonance. That contradiction perfectly captured what this connection felt like: something that appeared meaningful, but was ultimately dissonant and draining. And the False Relation is played in every chorus.

This isn’t a song about heartbreak, it’s about hindsight. It’s about spotting manipulation that was dressed up as love, strength that was used to control, and realizing that sometimes the people who seem the strongest are just the best at hiding their own emptiness.

I wrote False Relation to process that experience, and to make sense of it all. It made me realise in the process that people who make you feel small do it as a reflection on their own insecurities, and it has nothing to do with you, and everything to do with them.
