Join the 16th HOFA XMAS MIX CONTEST!

It's that time of the year again. The long nights finally give you more time for your favourite activities: making music, recording, producing, mixing and mastering.
Of course, this will also put you in the mood for the XMAS MIX CONTEST. What could be better than mixing a Christmas song in the cozy comfort of your own home – and when it sounds really good, you can even win great prizes as a reward!
For the 16th time in a row, HOFA is organising the XMAS MIX CONTEST – for everyone who loves festive studio work.

Contest song "Santa Claus Is Coming"

This year's contest song, "Santa Claus Is Coming", combines elements of electronic and rock music with powerful drums, delicate flutes and violins. As always, the contest song was written and produced by HOFA CEO Jochen Sachse, and all the musicians are members of the HOFA team as well.

Win amazing prizes

This year there will be prize money of €1,000 twice – for the best mix and for the best remix of our contest song – and also attractive special prizes from our sponsors.

Taking part is worth it!

20 mix analyses are raffled from all submissions. This analysis gives you a feedback to your mix and points out strenghts and weaknesses – that alone makes your work worthwhile!

Terms and Conditions

Participation in the HOFA XMAS MIX CONTEST is free of charge. All you need is a DAW and fun mixing and remixing.

Mix

You are allowed to trigger drums, to master, copy & paste or even remove individual elements. For the sake of fairness it’s not allowed to add new tracks or to change tempo, pitch or structure of the song.
The jury is looking for harmonious sound characteristics with balanced levels that fits in the genre, a well-defined spatial depth and a natural overall sound.

Remix

Your options for the remix are endless: use those tracks of the download you want and add whatever you like. Nothing’s forbidden – but of course the song should still be recognisable and “radio-compatible”. Let your creativity run wild!
When rating the remix, the jury pays attention to creativity, sound quality, sound design, arrangement and balanced proportions.
